I can’t wait to see what we’re going to do with 12 old stretched-out nursing bras and 3 dozen T-shirts from Old Navy…

Aaack! A week into the knit-blogosphere and already I’ve found a whole site of adorable handmade crafts for sale! Shriek!
Fingerless gloves from Knitty.com! I must say, they were a joy to make. I took the standard pattern for the “Fetching” gloves and made them a little longer. Perfect for writing when the Arcadian shop’s cafe is about 60 degrees, doncha think? I used size 4 bamboo needles and some yarn that was on sale at the local snooty yarn shop, and somehow it was all knitting nirvana. The right combination of gauge and needle and yarn and pattern, extremely pleasing to do. Also my first attempt at cabling, which I’m hooked on now.
I think I’m going to call them my Eliza Doolittle gloves.
I love knittinghelp.com — nice little videos, a great instructor, and good tips and techniques. It’s where I learned continental knitting, which is faster than the right-handed throw I learned from my mother, although I will say that the tension is harder to keep consistent. My stitches don’t look all neat and pretty and identical, like Amy’s (or Lori’s). Any suggestions on this? I’ve been knitting this way for over a year…but maybe I just still need some more practice…
Knit for Kids is another volunteer knitting project — and a cute kid’s sweater, to boot. Looks like a good stash-consumer.
After years of knitting, I’ve finally discovered that while I LOVE to knit - I hate finishing a project. If you looked in my stash you’d find not only far more yarn than one person should own, but multiple projects in various stages of completion. It’s embarrassing. The guilt made me give up on knitting for quite awhile. I mean, if I’m not going to complete a project, why start?
I’ve found the answer to my dilemma - Warm Up America! Now I can knit to my heart’s content and feel like I’m working on something that someone will actually enjoy - not something that will end up in my stash graveyard. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
11 Blues:

6 Pink (not a color for the faint of heart, it actually was a little painful on the eyes to knit with)

It takes 48 7×9 inch squares for a full size afghan, so I’ve a way to go if I’m going to complete one on my own. Anyone wanna help?
BTW, I think the pink ones will be reserved for a second afghan…it’s so bright it either needs to be the accent colors in a completely pink afghan or combined with equally electric orange & yellow for a bright, happy little girl’s afghan. I’ll let you know if I find the right yarn.
I just need to take a few pictures of what I’ve been working on first!
Here’s a fun one-day project, knit with Wool-Eze (such a guilty pleasure!). I think I cast on about 45 sts onto 10.5 dp needles and knit until it seemed about the right size. The pattern I crooked from a pair of fingerless gloves on Knitty.com — 4 rows of 4/1 ribbing, then a round of the cable pattern (c4b, p1). Much more gratifying than a scarf, with the same effect.
Oooh, yay! Now I can finally share the fabric I found on eBay for skirts for the girls. They’re all into skirts and I was looking at the $60 (originally, I bought it on sale) skirt from Hannah, and thought geez I can do this myself. I did a test with some fabric I found at Joann’s; but no corduroy anywhere to be found! Here’s the corduroy I found on eBay, can’t wait to see it in person:
Do not be alarmed.
